what is a PI assessment?
A PI assessment evaluates the long-term impact of service-related injuries or conditions.
It’s your pathway to:
Compensation for permanent & stable physical and psychological impairments
Potential eligibility for a Gold Card (under MRCA or VEA)
Recognition of your service and sacrifices
At GO2 Health, we value every aspect of your healthcare journey.
Your outcomes of PI are part of this, but we will also look after your day-to-day physical, emotional and healthcare needs.
how to prepare
Preparation is key to a smooth and successful PI assessment. Here’s how you can get ready:
Inform DVA that you wish to undertake a PI assessment for your accepted conditions.
Whilst DVA will usually send us the PI assessment, please contact reception to confirm it has been received prior to your appointment. If you have a copy, please email it to [email protected].
We must have an electronic copy of the assessment BEFORE your appointment
Schedule your PI assessment
with one of our GPs by calling
us at (07) 3355 5540.
Inform your DVA delegate as soon as you have a GP appointment to reset the ‘28-day expiry’
for submission.
Your recent medical records, including scans and specialist reports from the last 12 months and your latest ‘List of Accepted Conditions’ with accepted dates.
*we only require your recent medical records, please don't include your entire medical history.
what to expect
To help you feel prepared and confident, here is an overview of what to expect during your PI assessment:
Thorough Evaluation
Discuss your medical history and service-related conditions with our experienced GPs.
Our doctors will conduct a comprehensive assessment based on DVA’s guidelines. An assessment usually lasts 60 minutes but may be longer or spread over several sessions.
Documentation
DVA's PI assessments are mostly a tick box activity which links to their GARP rules. They are all being streamlined to improve efficiency and reduce challenges around interpretation when word pictures are used.
They can seem a little artificial however they are based around legislative requirements.
what happens after
Once your PI assessment is completed and submitted by our GP, we will upload the assessment directly to your file at DVA. Please note that as DVA are contracting us directly to complete the medicolegal report we do not allow external parties to receive a copy. We also do not receive any follow up correspondence from DVA regarding your PI & outcome.
It is important to stay proactive in tracking its progress; make sure to follow-up with your DVA Delegate.
After your PI assessment has been submitted, it is your responsibility to contact your DVA Delegate to check the status of your assessment.
Your delegate can provide updates on where your assessment is in the process and any additional steps you may need to take.
Each PI assessment has a due date attached to it. However, please be aware that the processing time may take longer.
Staying in touch with your DVA Delegate can help ensure that your assessment is processed as efficiently as possible.
