Provisional Access to Medical Treatment (or PAMT) is a Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)-led program that enables eligible veterans who have submitted a claim for one or more of the 20 most common DVA accepted conditions, to receive provisional medical and allied health treatment for those conditions while their claims are being considered.1
As of July 2024, the program has been extended to 30 June 2026, with treatment under the program available until 31 December 2026.2
What are the 20 accepted conditions?
The 20 conditions include 16 musculoskeletal, two hearing and two skin conditions, and consist of the following:
- Achilles tendinopathy and bursitis
- Chondromalacia patella
- Cut, stab, abrasion and laceration
- Dislocation
- Fracture
- Internal derangement of the knee
- Intervertebral disc prolapse
- Joint instability
- Labral tear
- Lumbar spondylosis
- Non-melanotic malignant neoplasm of the skin
- Osteoarthritis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Rotator cuff syndrome
- Sensorineural hearing loss
- Shin splints
- Solar keratosis
- Sprain and strain
- Thoracic spondylosis
- Tinnitus

How can veterans access PAMT?
Veterans who lodge a claim with DVA will be notified about the program through a letter. This letter will include a treatment confirmation form and detailed instructions on how to access provisional treatment.
How does it work?
Submit your claim
Submit a claim to DVA for your medical condition - under either or both DRCA3 or the MRCA4.
Request your confirmation form
Contact your DVA delegate to request a PAMT treatment confirmation form.
Book an appointment with GO2 Health
Book an appointment with your GO2 Health GP and bring the form. Your GP will determine if your injury or illness is related to one or more of the conditions covered.
If your PAMT form has already been signed by another GP, simply provide a copy to us to access Allied Health services and enable us to bill DVA.
Start your treatment
If your condition is related to one or more of the conditions covered, your GP will complete the form, send a copy to DVA, and you will then be able to access treatment under PAMT at GO2 Health. For example, this may include physiotherapy, osteopathy, or exercise physiology.
How long can I access treatment under PAMT?
You can access treatment under PAMT until one of the following occurs:
- Your claim is either accepted or declined (a determination is made).
- Your application for reconsideration or review is finalised.
- The program concludes on 31 December 2026.
Who is eligible for PAMT?
The program is available to:
- Former ADF members
- Part-time reservists
- Cadets
- Declared members
Who is not eligible for PAMT?
You are not eligible if your claim was submitted under the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 (VEA).
